If you want to protect a brand in Africa, you have two basic routes. You can file country by country with each national office, or you can use one of the regional systems described below.
Regional systems
- OAPI (African Intellectual Property Organization): a single registration covers all 17 of its member states.
- ARIPO (African Regional Intellectual Property Organization): its system covers 12 member states, but you must name the specific countries you want to designate.
