How an opposition works
Sometimes another party objects to a trademark application, for example because they believe your mark is too similar to one they already own. This is known as an opposition.
What happens next
The EUIPO or the relevant national office will examine the dispute. Depending on the situation, you may be asked to present arguments in defense of your application, or you may choose to negotiate a settlement with the opposing party.
