Marks that are not eligible for registration
Yes, some things are off-limits. A trademark application will run into problems if the mark is any of the following:
- Generic or descriptive. Words that simply name or describe the product or service.
- Religious or offensive. Religious symbols, or material that others would find offensive.
- Official emblems. National flags or emblems.
- Misleading or deceptive. Marks that could give consumers a false impression.
